Ottawa Showbox calls Malak 'one of the most powerful and beautiful voices in town'. US born, Egypt raised, and now calling Ottawa home, Malak was immersed in diverse musical influences from a young age. Since winning multiple vocal competitions throughout Egypt and Europe, including Greece, Germany and Italy, Malak has turned her youthful passion for music into a flourishing music career. At 21, Malak is completing a degree in music performance and songwriting at Carleton University and has garnered many accolades for her songwriting and musicianship. Drawing from her multicultural heritage, Malak has developed a sound fusing orchestral electropop, adult contemporary and indie into a unique and accessible style. In the past year alone Malak has had multiple live performances throughout Ottawa (Live On Elgin, The Rainbow Bistro, Irene's Pub, Zaphod's, Avant Garde) and Toronto (Hard Rock Cafe, Old Nick's, Let's Be Frank) as well as numerous house concerts across southern and eastern Ontario. Malak participated in Ottawa based initiatives such as Ballads for Ballots, opening for Jim Bryson, as well as hosting charity concerts for the Inner Wheel Club of Ottawa and the CNIB. Since releasing her debut EP, Circus, in the winter of 2016, she has released a further five live video performances and is currently recording a follow up full length, scheduled for release in the spring of 2017. Most recently Malak is a finalist in MusikOttawa and will be a featured performer at the final performance this November.
