Orchidae
Yolande Laroche, a Franco-Taiwanese Canadian artist based in Ottawa, reflects on her hyphenated identity, life and death, and themes of alienation in her debut solo project under the pseudonym Orchidae. Soft, hypnotic melodies and mantras intertwine with minimal yet meaningful, at-times psychedelic orchestration. She is currently recording a full length album set to release in 2022.
As a classically trained clarinetist and a touring/session musician, Yolande is a core member of art-rock band Pony Girl and experimental chamber project mal/aimé. She has also worked with artists such as Rayannah, Nick Schofield, Luka Kuplowski, Cedric Noel, and several others.
L’artiste canadienne franco-taïwanaise d’Ottawa, Yolande Laroche, mise sur son identité, sa vie, la mort, ainsi que les thèmes de l'aliénation pour créer. Ces thématiques lui ont d’ailleurs permis de présenter son tout premier projet solo, sous le pseudonyme Orchidae. Cette dernière offre des mélodies douces et hypnotisantes qui s'entremêlent parfois à une orchestration psychédélique. Orchidae travaille présentement sur l’enregistrement de son premier album qui devrait être lancé en 2022.
