“This girl BEASTS on the track!” captions the TeamBackPack video that launched Haviah Mighty to two million Facebook views in 2016. Gifted with a name that carries a touch of destiny (yes, that really is her name), Toronto-born, Brampton-raised, Haviah began her artistic journey in 2009, and is since rapidly becoming one of the most thought-provoking, viscerally entertaining and magnetic rap artists in Canada. With new school production and a fierce delivery, this multidisciplinary talent is a rapper, singer, producer and DJ, all mushed into a 5’1” ball of fury.
Her most recent EP, Flower City, which was named one of Complex’s Favourite Canadian Releases of 2017, is a watershed moment in her blossoming career, and is a work of linguistic elegance, rhythmic ferocity and soulful sincerity. Haviah’s explosive live show, filled with in-your-face intensity and her fast, technical flows, has quickly developed her reputation as one to keep an eye on, earning her opening slots for acclaimed artists like Nelly, Desiigner, Kranium, A Tribe Called Red, and Snoop Dogg.
Female empowerment has never been stronger and Haviah Mighty wants to champion that message wholeheartedly through her music. Proving that lyrical ability isn’t a gender or age restricted art, Mighty is recklessly edging her way into music as a new face in hip-hop and R&B.
