Andy Moss, Label Manager / Artist Manager at Melodic Records and Daptone Records

From a young age, Andy has always loved music. Like many people entering the music industry he was initially on the other side of the fence, playing drums in numerous bands throughout his teens and early 20s. As he got older his interest in the business side grew, and he started interning at labels and actively seeking opportunities. He now heads up Melodic, a label, artist management and European label management company based in Manchester, UK.

What is your favourite part about your job?

Hanging out with super cool musicians and bands who make incredible music.

What do you look for in an artist you want to work with?

Something authentic, real, unique that at the same time connects with me, and the general public on a deep level... It's got to have that emotional reaction where you just stop can't spinning it. It's very special when you get something like that.

What was your first job in the music industry?

I was working for a company uploading pretty generic library music to iTunes and other DSPS.

Elton John and KikI Dee - Don't go breaking my heart.

What is one thing you always pack when you go to a music festival?

Wet wipes!

‘Passer le temps’ avec les musiciens et groupes super cool qui créent la musique incroyable.

Qu’est-ce que vous recherchez dans un artiste avec qui vous voulez travailler?

Quelque chose d’authentique, réel, et unique avec qui je ressenti une connexion, et avec qui le public général peut aussi ressentir une connexion de profondeur…Il faut avoir une réaction émotionnelle tel que vous ne pouvez pas arrêter de l'écouter. C’est très spécial quand on trouve quelque chose comme ça.  

Quel était votre premier emploi dans l’industrie de musique?

Je travaillais pour une compagnie, téléchargeant la musique assez générique à iTunes et autres DSPS.
